About The Event
Tour description:
On your way between the five breweries, of which you'll be given the back-story of each one, you'll learn interesting facts about the buildings and areas you pass by and be given a little beer based knowledge. The tour also gives the choice to stop and enjoy a pint in a beer garden at an award-winning traditional pub, owned by a Bristol brewery.
So that you can plan future beer adventures in Bristol, you'll be given the story behind several other breweries that are not quite on the route, and how to reach them. There's also tips on some later night drinking venues close to the end of the tour.
There's enough stops and advice to keep you entertained for more than one day, so if you have the time, plan to take the tour as two parts over a weekend or two. Do not try to have a drink everywhere in one day!
All of the breweries on the East Bristol Brewery Trail are along the route or pointed out. The next trail is planned for the August bank holiday, so you can swat up in advance or use this audio tour to take you around on the day.
Most of the beers along this route will be vegan.
Dogs are welcome everywhere.
Children are welcome in most of the venues before 8pm.
Why an audio tour?
My passion for sharing things about Bristol's fascinating past and introducing people to our craft beer scene is huge. These audio tours give you more information than you'd get on a guided tour, as there's no need to stop all the time to gather a group - I (Heather) can talk to you as you walk. Using your location, the clever app that's used plays audio automatically, at exactly the right time and place. You can walk at your own pace and have as many beer stops as you like without being rushed along or having to look at your phone.
How it works:
When you buy a tour, you'll receive a unique code and instructions on how to download the tour on the VoiceMap platform (you will need to have an Android or i-phone with the ability to download an app). Your code accesses the tour, which you can download in advance to use maps offline if you like. Once the tour is downloaded it will stay on your phone forever, so if you haven't chosen a date to take it yet or want to take it over a few different days then it has that flexibility. You have 30 days from purchase to download the tour.
When to take your tour:
The actual walking bit (with no stopping), takes around 40 minutes. The amount of time you spend taking the tour will depend on how much beer you'll have and your drinking speed.
You can take the tour whenever you like, but if you want to be stopping for beer along the way, it's worth noting that
Fridays and Saturdays are the only days that all of the of the breweries will be open.
On Saturdays I reccomend starting at around 2pm (unless taking a brewery tour) and on Fridays from around 3.30pm.
Thursday early evening and Sundays afternons will have three venues along the route open and a few others nearby.
To take the tour you will need:
- A set of headphones.
- A smartphone with either an Android or I-phone operating system to be able to download the app.
- To check and follow Covid 19 rules that are in place on the day you take your tour. (facemasks at times, track and trace, group sizes, etc)
Tickets
Audio Tour for one device
It is possible to share headphones, but as you will be walking a lot, it may be very awkward to stay that close. You also may also struggle to concentrate with just one ear playing the audio and the other hearing sirens, etc. One ticket per person is strongly recommended.
